Scatola del Tempo rewards Michele Placido |
Awarded in Los Angeles, the great Italian actor and director on his latest movie’s set
Scatola del Tempo, the prestigious Italian company and creator of rotating watch holders, has awarded the actor-turned-director Michele Placido, for his artistic and professional courage in tackling an especially controversial political and historic theme in his recent movie “Il sangue dei vinti”, presented outside of the official competition at the International Film Festival of Rome.
The director, a real icon of Italian cinema, received the prize at the end of October 2008 in Los Angeles, where alongside Riccardo Scamarcio and Jasmine Trinca, he was filming a movie on the student protests years, “Il grande sogno”. Its release is planned for the spring of 2009. The movie involves a story set in 1968, inspired by five biographies, where the events of those explosive years are also told from the point of view of a policeman, a character played by Placido himself.
