AMERICAN CINEMATEQUE HONORS JULIA ROBERTS
Julia Roberts’s celebrated smile was uncommonly shining Friday evening as the American Cinematheque honored the famous Hollywood actress with its 22nd annual award.
The star-studded event took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on October 12th and will air on AMC on December 5th.
"More than anything I am just the most proud wife and mother of the three most amazing children, and that is all I could ever ask for. And the widening of my life — and my hips — is really just the true gift of my husband, Danny, who I just would be so lonely without” said Julia Roberts during her speech. In the ceremony Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington, Bruce Willis, Shirley MacLaine, and Natalie Portman gave a hearty welcome to Julia Roberts as the American Cinematheque paid tribute to her contribution to the history of cinema. Among the stars who honored Julia Roberts during the ceremony, Tom Hanks said: "Knowledge that no matter how good of shape you are in, no matter how good of a haircut you are sporting, Julia Roberts is, at the end of the day, going home to a husband way better looking than you will ever be." Manifestly pleased, bringing her speech to its close, Julia said: "For all of you to come tonight with the intention to be so kind to me is something I will never forget. And I'm so grateful."
The gift bags for the award ceremony were created by Jewels and Pinstripes, one of the nation’s premier gift bag companies, dedicated to raising money for charitable causes.
As part of the celebration, Julia Roberts signed her bag, along with some of its contents, and auctioned it on-line with money going to the American Cinematheque.
The gift bags, valued at more than $10,000 are filled with a luxurious assortment of amazing gifts including the famous watch holder of Scatola del Tempo.
Recipients of the gift bag include presenters and guests such as Denzel Washington, Tom Hanks, Sally Field, Natalie Portman, Bruce Willis, Blair Underwood, Marcia Gay Harden, Shirley MacLaine and many others.
